MEET JAIME
Hello, I'm
Jaime Horta
I am a Colombian-Spanish doctor trained in the biopsychosocial model that has a participatory approach to health and disease that postulates that biological factors, psychological, behavioral and social factors play an important role in human activity in the context of illness or disability.
In this way, health is better understood in terms of a combination of biological, psychological and social factors and not just in biological terms.
I am a specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PRM). PMR is a medical specialty oriented towards the recovery of functional abilities and quality of life of patients with disabilities , congenital or acquired.

Rehabilitation doctors / physiatrists are particularly specialized in techniques for recovering optimal function, particularly in subjects suffering from muscular, osteo-articular, cardio-respiratory or cerebral lesions (for example after a stroke ).

The first role of the doctor specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation (MPR) is to design and supervise rehabilitation and rehabilitation programs for patients who have suffered accidents or serious pathologies that require multidisciplinary care.
Directions

Distinguish peripheral neurogenic damage from primary myogenic damage.

Differentiate truncal damage from root damage by studying nerve conduction velocities (VCN).

Specify the distribution and topography of peripheral damage, monitor its evolution.
Diagnosis of myasthenia (search for neuromuscular block).

The examination has a prognostic interest by its repeatability to follow, for example, the evolution of a Guillain-Barré syndrome or a carpal tunnel syndrome .
